Is it time Ken Shamrock retired?

After that embarrasing fight with Tito Ortiz should Ken just hang up his gloves and retire to the hall of fame without facing further embarassment? or should he have yet another re-match with Ortiz like Tito said he is welcome to?

Is it time Ken Shamrock retired?
he is retiring it was his last fight!
Reply:I hope he goes at it again with Tito. What I really want to see is Frank Mir make a come back.
Reply:well he is already in the hall of fame but yes his *** is to old to be trying to fight with these young guys
Reply:its time to call it a day he is 42 now
Reply:The one inevitablity is that no matter how a great a warrior you are (Shamrock was a great warrior and all are encouraged to check out the early UFC's) father time catches up to us all.

This fight might have been more competitive if Shamrock was in his prime and Tito was in his prime.

It's time for Ken to pass the torch before he takes to much punishment because he has taken quite a beating in his last few losses (Frye, Franklin, Ortiz I an II) I can't remember when the last time I saw him win.
Reply:Should retire, but a rematch would be awsome.
Reply:he needs to let go. he's no spring chicken anymore.
Reply:is it time for you to retire?
Reply:basically... that fight was lame. tito would have won anyway.. he definately needs to throw in the towel. i can't wait for liddell and ortiz to fight! yes.
Reply:who? eh? chess
Reply:Considering that the last 3 fights I saw Shamrock in were losses (against Rich Franklin in UFC, who knocked Shamrock out when Rich was fighting at LH, against Sakuraba in PRIDE fighting, when he couldn't continue, and now the loss to Ortiz), yes. Shamrock's one of the pioneers of the sport, but the sport's made a lot of progress since Ken was in his prime, and Ortiz is still in his prime, while Ken isn't. I think that's among the reason's Tito's fighters on TUF3 were 3 of the 4 finalists - Tito keeps his training and his thinking fresh, while Ken is keeping the glory days of the Lion's Den in his head, and MMA has made a lot of progress in the last 10 years. That's why Matt Hughes was able to beat Royce Gracie as well - Gracie was great in his day, but doesn't integrate the fighting styles the way modern MMA fighters like Hughes, Franklin, Ortiz and Liddell do. Ken probably will be in another rematch, but I think he's at the same point in his career as when Ali fought Larry Holmes - he's a legend, but he needs to face reality.
Reply:hell no, it's too much fun watching tito kick his ***!!
Reply:Gracie busted up Shamrock. He's a hasbeen
Reply:He is no longer a Kid
Reply:YES
Reply:Now I don't know for sure, but it seems like Shamrock trains hard just to get ready for a fight. I know Couture was always training hard, he never let himself get out of shape. He was always ready to fight at a moment's notice. I think that is important for the older fighters, and why Couture was still winning in his 40's.

If Shamrock were to do that in order to fight Ortiz one more time then he should win - b/c as Couture proved, experience can count more than brute strength. Pound for pound, Tito is probably stronger than Couture, but Couture still dominated him.

I don't think it makes sense to come in and out of retirement. I'd like to see Shamrock end with a win and retire gracefully.
Reply:Yes, I believe his best fighting days are behind him - he admits it as well. But no, I don't he should retire before he has one more fight with Ortiz.

Much as Ortiz may rub me the wrong way, I'd like to see the last fight be an unequivocal, protracted three round thrashing that no one can dispute or make excuses for.

There will always be those who say Herb Dean stepped in to early in this last fight - so I say let 'em go one more time, and let this one be the definitive beating.
Reply:Yes, I think Ken Shamrock ought to retire, however, I think he ought to out with a BANG! Win this last fight against Tito Ortiz and enjoy the "UFC Hall of Fame" that he is already a part of.
Reply:I think he should retire, but don't think he will until after he faces Tito again.
Reply:Yes,Ithink he should retire from UFC because he is 42 and after that rather quick beatdown by Tito Ortiz, he needs to retire. But he can always go back to the WWE. He is still young compared to some of the wrestlers.
Reply:Cool, a chick into the UFC. Check this out. My buddy had a party the other night for the fight.. About 50 peeps showed up and the cable went on the fritz.. Good thing I had a trunk full of Fireworks.. I think it may be time for Ken to step out of the ring, but I do think he should continue to coach, etc.. I wished and prayed he would win.. But I am just like him a tough stubborn Irish man.. Our culture is based on fighting.. For sport and fun.. My brother and I as well as our friends fought since we were two. I am 39 and I still like to go a few rounds. So I know how hard it must be for Ken..
Reply:i think so. I like him but I just don't think he can beat Ortiz. I think it is because he hates him so bad he does not think clearly. lets his anger get to him and does not make smart moves. I think Ortiz has no class though.
