Why did St. Patrick use the 3 leaved shamrock?

was he not lucky enough to find a 4 leaf one?

ps - i'm not being offensive in any way, it's just in fun...and happy st. patrick's day to everyone...

pps - i know a shamrock and 4 leaf clover are different...

Why did St. Patrick use the 3 leaved shamrock?
He used a three leaved shamrock to represent the trinity. One leaf for the Father, one leaf for the Son, and one leaf for the Holy Spirit. Shamrocks are abundant in Ireland (or at least in some places, I'd know, I've been there.), so the Irish people could relate easier to this.

yeahh, sorry if I'm being a bit of a killjoy, but it's the total honest-to-goodness answer. Happy St. Patrick's day!! :)
Reply:?????
Reply:he was a christian (hence the saint part) and he used it to explain the trinity... one god with three personalities: the father, son, and holy spirit
Reply:i agree with you!

i can't find one too
Reply:Because, Patrick was explaining the 3 rules of Catholicism and the shamrock helped him explain it?
