Boston: Black Rose or Purple Shamrock?

Between just these two Irish pubs, which would you recommend (food, atmosphere, etc.) for a family of two adults and a teenager traveling to Boston, next week? Thank you!

Boston: Black Rose or Purple Shamrock?
The Black Rose is Definitly better. More authentic. The Purple Shamrock is more of a meat market....and it always smells of sweat and stale beer.

You should try the Bell in Hand also in the Quincy market area....that is the oldest pub in Boston.

In the Charlestown portion of Boston there is an AWESOME bar/restaurant with really good food called the Warren Tavern. It is on the freedom trail...you will need to take about a 5 dollar cab ride from faneuil hall to get there but it's worth it. It is supposedly the oldest Inn in Boston. Paul Rever even stayed there.

Reply:purple shamrock.. although neither are really a place for teenagers after dark... very much a wild college bar after dark.

But daytime... purple's got better food and better atmosphere.
Reply:i don't live in boston or know what your talking about but the black rose sounds better
Reply:the purple shamrock all the way around
Reply:Jose McIntrye, about 2 streets away, with Fanuel Hall on you're right, walking on Atlantic Ave

Reply:Purple Shamrock, hands down. I'm surprised you even had to ask. I love going to that place.
