Is Valero Petroleum Company owned by Hugo Chavez?

I know that Hugo Chavez has changed the Citco name to Petro Express since real Americans stopped using his fuel. This week someone told me he owned Valero Oil. Were I live Valero has bought out all the BP %26amp; Shamrock Diamond quick stop convenience stores. I would like to know if this is true or false.

Technically Valero Petroleum Company doesn’t exist. As of February 7, 2007 the only two companies sporting the name Valero, is Valero Energy Corporation (a refining company) and Valero L.P. (a pipeline, terminal, and oil storage company). Both of these Companies are American Corporations (corporate headquarters are located in San Antonio, TX), and do not currently operate in Venezuela, or the Middle East.

Valero L.P., a limited partnership, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Valero Logistics Operations, L.P., engages in the ownership and operation of crude oil and refined product pipeline and terminalling assets. The pipeline, terminalling, and storage tank assets provide transportation of crude oil and other feedstocks to the refineries and the transportation of refined products from the refineries to terminals or third-party pipelines for further distribution. The partnership also owns and operates crude oil storage tanks. Riverwalk Logistics, L.P. operates as the general partner to Valero L.P. The partnership, formerly known as Shamrock Logistics, L.P., was formed in 1999 and changed its name to Valero L.P. in 2002. Valero is based in San Antonio, Texas.
Reply:Valero is public company listed on the NYSE(New York Stock Exchange). Ticker symbol being VLO. 70% of the shares are owned by institutions i.e. mutual funds, brokerage houses, private investors



While Hugo might own some stock in the company, nor he or Venezuela own 100% of VLO.
