¿Do you think that a mma fighter have to talk trash to prove that is a good fighter mentally?

I say NO, maybe is true that talk trash and have a big mouth is a part of the sport and is a good tool to take out mentally to the opponent in the fight, but not all fighters do that, some of the best fighters in the world or maybe almost all of the best fighters in the world are quiet like Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro cop, Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, Rich Franklin, Randy Couture, Frank Shamrock, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, You never heard those guys talking bullshit about his opponents, they just go, fight and get what they want without saying any word, some guy in this opinion space thinks that you have to talk bullshit to be a strong mentally fighter, well i am not agree with that, and i'm sure that these resource is a good tool, but is not necessary to be in the list of the top fighters in the world like the list that i just gave, but i don't want to make a controversy with all this, i just want to make this clear and is just my opinion and of course i respect the other ones.

?Do you think that a mma fighter have to talk trash to prove that is a good fighter mentally?
Trash talk is big in the UFC for obvious reasons... hype makes the fights more interesting and sells more PPV. But ur right great fighters like Fedor,Mirko and Randy dont need to say ****, they prove it all in the ring. But maybe trash talking is used to take a fighter off of his normal game, maybe its just natural to some like tito. But to answer your question i dont think trash talking alone helps you prove to be a better fighter mentally. Maybe for some. def. not for all.
Reply:no.
Reply:I often think that we are seeing the "WWE" side of MMA when we listen to a Tito Ortiz or Josh Koschek. These fighters are skilled, but perhaps not as skilled as others who are quiet and calculating. The best fighters are often not boisterous and boasting, they don't need to. Just look at Chuck Liddell, he is a pretty quiet guy. But boy can he punch! Or look at Mirko Cro Cop, the incredibly intelligent fighter who cannot be judged from his last fight. The man simply defines a great fighter who analyzes his mistake and his "job" of taking another fighter apart. When and if we see a rematch I am thinking that Cro Cop will be a better fighter and will probably win. Another great example is Randy Couture, a man I have been in awe of since the early days of the UFC. He is a trademark fighter of the intelligent style of MMA.

Philosophically you can think of Tito and Koschek as snippy poodles, where as the others are the big German Shepherd sitting on the porch. Sure the poodle barks a lot and with snap at you, but given the chance the German Shepherd is the choice of guard dog, as he knows when to engage and does so with intensity AND intelligence.
Reply:I don't know about good fighter, but good people do not talk trash.
Reply:this isn't christian league mma. There is trash talking in every

sport, and its all about throwing your opponent off his game.

Most fighters dont do it because thier not good at talking smack ,they dont want to look or sound stupid, or thier afraid of eating thier own words. Trash talking is good it builds up hype and makes me more interested in a fight. These are brutal cage fights , if your upset over some trash talking go

watch golf.

Tito " I'm gonna make Rashad my nappy headed hoe".

-Priceless-
Reply:It depends, I think all MMA fighters think that they are good fighters otherwise why be there, its just that some fighters shine more brightly than others, some are also there for fame and money...BOB SAPP wtf...hes just big but the audience likes him becoz hes built for the media that way...Tito is an intelligent guy, im sure hes just not in there to prove hes a good fighter, hes also out there to make money...like his T-shirts, and by talking trash, its like free advertisement to those that dont know any better.

without MMA fighters that causes a "scene" in the media MMA fights may not be one of the most entertaining sports to watch...unfortunately some fans are like sheeps, they dont know any better.
Reply:I like how Pride does it. Somewhat spectacular introductions when the fighters come out, but there's no post fight interviews with the fighters who just fought. I think it's absolutely stupid and insults MMA as a whole when the loser has to say why he lost. Ridiculous.
Reply:a real fighter relies solely on his intellect, strategy, and skill to be successful. a real fighter should feel that they have nothing to prove. these guys are just testosterone-driven and very rash in their judgements.

and you need better grammar. i can barely understand your question.
Reply:Fedor is like a pit bull. There is no need to bark he just goes out and fights like a man on a mission. It doesn't add anything to his game.

Yeah for the most part trash talking is way overrated. There are a few times when it worked but not very often. When Leonard fought Duran in fight 1, Duran made Leonard so angry that Leonard didn't fight his normal fight. The rematch the trash talking was just ignored by Leonard. Most fighters learn to seperate the trash talk from the fight so I rarely see it as an advatantage.

Occasionally if one fighter wanted another to try to make another recklessly angry I could see a strategic benefit by trying it. I still don't think it works very often though but in some cases it doesn't hurt to try.
