Is the shamrock the emblem of the Irish, or only the symbol of few of them?

Like the leek is the symbol of Wales.

Is the shamrock the emblem of the Irish, or only the symbol of few of them?
It represents all of Ireland all denominations
Reply:The harp is the most used emblem in Ireland. It appears on money and all official documents. The only place I can think of the shamrock appearing is on Aer Lingus aircraft and on Irish Tourism brochures.
Reply:The shamrock is the Irish emblem. As is the harp.
Reply:The Shamrock is the national emblem of all of Irleand just as the thistle is the emblem of Scotland.
Reply:I don't understand the "symbol of few of them?" But we do use the shamrock over here but the harp is probably more popular, When we had our pounds instead of the Euro, we had a harp on the back of our coins. Shamrock is really used for St. Patricks Day
Reply:The official emblem of Ireland is the Harp not the Shamrock.

The Shamrock is used as a symbol in mainly sporting bodies. So it would be a symbol for all Irish people. For example, The Irish Rugby team is an all Ireland body and the team crest has shamrocks on it.
