How much money is a tattoo?

All I want is a shamrock on my chest.

( About an inch in height. )

How much money is a tattoo?
like most everyone else mentioned, every shop is different. when it comes to smaller pieces like that, they're usually just given a price. i say this because someone mentioned tattoo artists being paid by the hour, but in cases of small tattoos, i just charge by the piece. most shops have a minimum price. the shop i work at is 50. so no matter how small it is, it will atleast cost 50. i don't know of any shops that go down to 20, or 30, but someone mentioned that's how much they paid, so i could be wrong. i've worked at 4, 5 different shops and the lowest minimum was 40. i know a lot of scratchers (people who tattoo out of their houses) who will tattoo for 20 dollars, but no artist in a shop. atleast not on the east coast. i haven't been all over though, so what do i know. pick an artist from a local shop you like and inquire about the tattoo. i'm sure judging by the size you want it will probably just be shop minimum price. good luck!
Reply:here are some tattoos sites that you can look at
Reply:It depends on the tattoo studio you get it and on the detail of the design.

They tend to have a min. price, I've seen those range from 20 to 50 dollars but it depends on the studio.

Maybe you could get yours for about 30 bucks or so...

Good luck with your tattoo :o)
Reply:Don't get a tattoo... they are permanent. Get a rub on one and wear it for 6 months and see how much you like it then.

My favorite is when someone gets a tattoo of some Chinese and then they think they are all spiritual. That sign doesn't read peace or hope in Chinese, it reads "beef with broccoli"
Reply:twenty bucks an hour, it will probably be more than twenty. i got a ladybug on my hip that was the size of a nickel and it cost me 20 bux.
Reply:Everyone will have a different answer.

First off, every parlor does it differently. Some charge by the hour, some by the design and so on.

You'll have to take your design into a good, reputable artist and inquire there to get a true idea of the cost. Here you will hear many different things.

Good luck!
Reply:A shamrock of that size will probably only cost about $50..I know some places charge a miminum. I paid $70 for a small cartoon airplane on my ankle in May. My mom paid $140 for a Pirates of the Carribean the same day (yeah, Mom has 15 tats).
Reply:In san diego they charge a minimum of 50 dollars for a tattoo. A small tattoo like a shamrock would probably be 50-75 if it was black and white and maybe a little more if it had color. Nothing more than 100 dollars though. Make sure you get it professionally done by someone who is really amazing at tattooes.
Reply:it all depends on the size and also how much detail you want. If i were you i would ask the artist because they all have different prices for different tats.
