How good is Tito Ortiz, Really?

Tito mopped Shamrock for the third time. Is tito going to be able to regain his title?

How good is Tito Ortiz, Really?
Possibly, if his attitude doesn't get in the way. Tito always seems to talk smack and has been able to back it up so far. Chuck is the best to me and I think he will beat Tito. As far as beating Shamrock, well let's see how good Tito is in his 40's.
Reply:Ortiz is good. He will, however, run into a superior fighter against the Iceman. I think Tito is setting himself up for dissappointment by fighting Shamrock and Dana White before going against Chuck for the championship. It's like playing softball and teeball to warm up for a baseball game. The last real challenge Tito face was Forrest Griffin, who barely lost the fight. I love to watch Forrest fight, but barely being beaten by Ortiz doesn't make Tito look like a championship caliber fighter. Forrest has a while to go, and will most likely get another shot at Tito after Chuck beats him. Tito got unlucky with the Silva-Liddell fight falling through, because Chuck would have had to battle to win that one.
Reply:Tito has fair game in his standing game fighting techniques, but his strength lies in hs ground game, but Chuck has a great standing game fighting ability, so Tito's gonna have his hands full.

Hope he trains hard (in his standing game) if has a hope to win.

But it's gonna be a good fight either way. that's for sure
Reply:Was any one surprised? Tito acted like a fool, afterward if it weren't for guys like Ken Shamrock he wouldn't be where he is now. no respect at all. If Chuck doesn't pound him i hope someone steps up and kicks his arrogant ***!
Reply:Tito is very good...he has done nothing but win since his loss to liddell....and at age 32 he is in his prime. He will learn from his last fight against chuck and have better results.
Reply:fair
Reply:I don't think that the fights with Shamrock showed ANYTHING. I really think that Tito is a much deeper fighter with some mad skills. The last 2 Tito/Ken fights have really been pathetic. It was really heartbreaking to watch Ken fight well out of his prime. Last night it looked like Ken was walking into the frying pan and knew he was going to get the slapped around and beat up.

I think that Matt Hamill can give Tito a serious fight with 2 more years under his belt. So will Bisping, with some experience. But yes, right now 1 and 2 has to be Chuck and Tito.
Reply:Absolutely. Shamrock's hey day is long gone and Tito just now in his prime. He'll destroy him at the next PPV, but let's see how well he does against Chuck.
Reply:Chuck will definetly put Tito in his place, and I can't WAIT to watch it.......
Reply:I like both fighters, but i would really like Tito to win the belt back. Tito's striking is not as good as Chucks, and Chuck has a good takedown defense. Sure, Tito got badly beaten by Chuck, but things can change. I can tell Tito wants the belt back so badly, and he trains like crazy. Hopefully the winner will fight Wanderlei Silva.
Reply:hey you idiot, class is not admitting an inferior team is better than your team even though you know they are not..please dont talk baseball if you dont know the game, so go back to your gay fake wrestling and stay out of the baseball world.. one well pitched game dosent shake off 15 years of bad playofff performances, or ghosts as you call them. and the yankees lost 12 of 15 that year moron and they won it all not just one playoff series and then went out and acted like they won the whole thing like detroit did... running around the ballpark crying and all that hi fiving... totally bush league..better go to bed high school starts at 8 oclock tomorrow, bandwagoner...
Reply:Tito may be the best ever at "ground and pound". He's always in great shape and he's a tough guy. I don't think his wins over Ken Shamrock prove that much... Ken's a hall of famer, but his best days are long behind him. Tito barely eaked out a split decision over Forrest Griffin and has already been defeated by Chuck Liddell once. I don't see Tito defeating Liddell, but in MMA anything is possible.
Reply:Hes pretty good
Reply:The Iceman's gonna bring it and DESTROY tito. I can't wait for this match, gonna be so intense.
Reply:Tito's good, but Liddell will knock him out again.
Reply:I SAW THAT FIGHT TOO SHAM IS JUST GETTING OLD THAT'S ALL. TITO WILL GET BEAT BY CHUCK
Reply:well if Tito somehow gets chuck of his feat (which is highly unlikely) hell have a good chance but he probably wont and chucks gonna beat him down again (and shamrock isn't a bad fighter hes just old if he was in his late twenties he would have owned Tito)
Reply:Tito Ortiz is definately a future Hall of Famer. Given in my opinion. His strengths are ground and pound and he has a submission fighting undercut. With his experience has come more and more maturity. He knows he cant get into Liddell's head because he's got nothing on him. Liddell beat the man before. Not only did he beat him, he pounded him, almost making Tito curl up and defend for his life. So Tito's strategy this time around has to be, shoot for a takedown or two and avoid getting into the kill zone. If he gets Liddell down, then he has to somehow avoid getting his arms locked on while still making contact in his strikes.

Chuck Liddell is without a doubt the best Light Heavyweight champ there has ever been. He is an expert on his feet and the man has skills on the ground, though it may not be his greatest strength. He can also take punches and still think clearly. The thing that I believe will keep Tito from shooting to his legs often is Liddell's viscious knee strikes and kicks. The moment Ortiz shoots too soon will be the moment he gets kicked in the head. Bottom line, I believe that Liddell has too many weapons for Tito to overcome. Tito will go down, not because he doesnt have the skill, but because Liddell has the advantage.
